Is your workplace prepared for an emergency?

Fire in the workplace is a serious issue that is covered by national, state and local government regulations including the Building Code of Australia, OH&S Regulations and Australian Standards.

Don't wait for an emergency to occur before determining whether your fire equipment and systems are functioning correctly and are compliant to the relevant installation standards.

Our routine maintenance programme ensures that your fire equipment and systems are regularly tested, serviced and maintained in accordance with Australian Standards.

As part of this regularly scheduled programme, our technicians:

  • Test all equipment and systems as required by Australian Standards
  • Repair and replace components where required
  • Record all work performed in your site fire equipment log

Effective Extinguishing

Fire must be contained quickly to reduce the damage caused. Once started, a fire can be difficult to contain without the correct fire equipment or usage. Whether your business operates as a warehouse, office, chemical laboratory or a mine, E.T.C.S. can recommend and install a range of fire equipment and systems to aid in the containment of fires.

Why Regularly Service Your Fire Equipment and Systems?

  • State and local government regulations require fire systems to comply with a standard of performance and be regularly tested, serviced and maintained
  • Equipment and systems life expectancy can be increased
  • Operating costs can be reduced
  • Insurance premiums may be reduced
  • Equipment warranties may be extended
  • Peace of mind that your equipment and systems are in working order, ready to operate should an emergency occur

Building Owners/Occupiers Responsibilities

The Workplace Health and Safety Regulations requires that an appropriate number of portable fire extinguishers be provided and maintained in the workplace. Penalties apply for non-compliance with the regulations.

Once installed portable fire protection equipment must be regularly serviced. Laws require installed fire protection equipment be serviced and maintained so that the equipment performs to the standard to which it was originally designed. Based on Australian Standards, most portable fire protection equipment is required to be serviced every six months.

Exit and emergency lighting

E.T.C.S. can provide your site with a comprehensive fire safety risk assessment and advise you on the correct placement for exit and emergency evacuation lighting and the extent of required system maintenance in accordance with relevant state and national legislations, OH&S requirements and Australian Standards.

Exit and emergency evacuation lighting systems are designed and installed as an essential safety measure to reduce panic during an emergency evacuation by clearly identifying escape routes and providing visibility during power failure. If exit lights or emergency evacuation luminaries fail to operate when called upon, occupants can become disoriented, placing lives at risk.

Our routine service and maintenance programme ensures that your exit and emergency evacuation lighting system is regularly inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with Australian Standards AS2293.

Training

Your responsibility to protect people and assets does not end once your business is equipped with the required fire protection equipment and safety lighting. It's essential that your staff are trained in the identification and correct use of this equipment as well as emergency evacuation procedures. E.T.C.S. can assist you in developing an emergency response and evacuation plan specifically for your site and train your staff in the correct procedures for safe evacuations.

E.T.C.S. service technicians receive training and are experienced in working with a range of different fire equipment and systems. E.T.C.S. can assist in the training and use of portable fire equipment including extinguisher, hose reel & blanket use. Each of our technicians is clearly identified by the E.T.C.S. uniform worn and can perform routine maintenance at a time that suits you, minimising disruption to your business.
